Gulmarg, Dec 13 (KNO): Advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nasir Aslam Wani on Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir has established itself as the adventure tourism capital of the country, offering limitless opportunities across skiing, mountaineering, trekking, rafting and other sports. Speaking at an event in Gulmarg, Wani, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that the government remains committed to promoting adventure tourism by expanding infrastructure and supporting stakeholders across the sector. “Be it skiing, high-altitude trekking, river rafting, cycling or marathons, Jammu and Kashmir offers every adventure experience a traveler could seek,” he said. Highlighting the government’s sustained focus on the tourism sector, Wani said several projects worth Rs 17 crore were inaugurated earlier at Gulmarg, showcasing the administration’s drive to strengthen tourist infrastructure. “Tourism is a priority sector for this government. Our effort is to expand its economic footprint so that local communities benefit directly through livelihood opportunities and enhanced infrastructure,” he said. He added that the ultimate goal was to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s leading position in India’s tourism map and ensure that the benefits of tourism reach the people at the grassroots level. “We are confident that with consistent efforts over the next two to three years, we’ll achieve our objective,” Wani assured—(KNO)
